MARACAS
I’ve been very busy lately spending time working in new products for my local market catalog. I decided to put some of this products in my Etsy shop so during this couple of weeks I will be sharing with some of my new products. Today and tomorrow will be my maraca collection that has been very successful locally and I want to see how it works on etsy. Hope you like it
Maracas are often think for destination weddings but I believe they are symbol of any kind of celebration. When you pick up one of these maracas you will not want to put it down. And as fun as they are, they also are beautiful to display.
The first image are maracas made from tabachinnaturally dried pods. The dried seeds inside the pods make the rattle sound. . No two are exactly the same size; they are aprox 8″ to 12″ long. Hand painted just one side and in the other side a text is printed in vinyl and stick to the back of each pod (names of the groom and bride or thank you)
The second image are maracas handmade with 90% of reused materials . Made of chopsticks and PET caps previously washed. Containing pebbles or beans in the inside. We cover with papier mache and then hand painted them. And they sound as nice as the traditional maraca.
MY FAVORITE EDIBLE FLOWERS: Zucchini flower, Nasturtium andYucca flower (part 2)

Buen día. Today I am posting three edible flower that grow easy around my country even two of them are not as popular in the Mexican dishes as the Jamaica flower and Zucchini flower.
Zucchini flower are my favorite of all beside their beautiful yellow color they are delicious and nutritious. Here in Mexico they are use in many many dishes the most popular are: quesadillas, stuffed with cheese and my very favorite dipped in batter and fried.
The Nasturtium I have only seen it in salads but is quite popular as is a wild flower around Mexico. I remember when I use to live in Mexico City, you could find it it grow even in the streets.
And last but not least the Yucca flower this one is not popular at all, I recently tried it and is delicious. I went all over the web to look for recipes but there are not too many. I just found some in a blog from Costa Rica. And I can not wait the blooming of this plant to cook it myself as there are many Yuccas here in los Cabos.

MY FAVORITE EDIBLE FLOWERS: Jaimaica flower

Jamaica flower is a species of Hibiscus. Mexico is one of the largest producer of Jamaica and it is a very popular refreshing drink all around Mexico. We drink Jamaica cold tea as american drink ice tea. The tea with out sugar is kind of sour but I love it, plus it has quite a lot of properties like antioxidants, ascorbic acid, and vitamin C, and you can alway add sugar to make it sweet. We also use jamaica flower in our cooking always fried or cooked and for the tea we use the dried flowers , lately is very trendy to fried the dried flowers and add them to salads.
If you haven´t tried Jamaica flower make sure at least to try the cold tea.

Today I am very exited I finally opened my etsy shop and today I will be heading off to a 70 birthday party: my sister Paz (Peace). As I mention before I am the youngest of nine so it is not etsy to get together very often but this time we are going all together and the best part is going to be held in NY. I am really happy even this time my kids and husband will not be joining me but I´m very grateful because I will be there thank to the help of my dearest family including my three kids who collaborate for this to happen. Since I can recall I am not a homesick girl but this time yes I am felling something living my husband a kids mainly because we are going to celebrate this wonderful person that is my sis that we all love but I know, at the end we the ones assisting are going to end up being the celebrated ones she really know each member of the family.
New York and Paz my sister are two beautiful thing that happen to me in my life. And both go hand by hand as she has live there for ever. I spent my first 4 or 5 summer vacation in NY when I was about 10 years old . My sister alway manage to find me a family where I could stay with or a sumer camp near by. She is the main reason we went to NY so much,we got to see every little corner of New York as a New yorker more than a tourist. New york existed for my family long before I was born. My father business associated lived in NY so before I ever been in New York I remember my mother talking of this amazing place call NY as if it was a fary tale castle I could picture my mother as a queen there. Then two of my brothers lived there so I got to imagine another aspect of it freedom, love, theater and shopping. Not until I was ten I was sent there, my first trip out of my country, what ever I imagine in those ten years was not short what a a city !.From then since I have imagine one day I will leave there ( except when I met Paris, Barcelona and Tokyo I change my mind for a while) This dream has not been possible and may not be possible so I remain with imaginary trips but now I am actually taking a real one. And the best part I am going to see all my sisters and brothers and my sis Paz who belong to religious other and choose not to marry. Her name Paz means peace and actually she is one of the few people I know with such an inner peace she leaves in harmony and she is always been like a pillar with in the family. Beside been that she is a very talented lady even she works in administration position full time she manage to study computer design and she is very creative. There are no words in my mind than thanks to life for my sister Paz and my big lovely family !

SUMMER THROUGH THE EYES OF MY KIDS

Happy new week. Summer vacation is flying by for us; the heat and humidity will remain for much longer however. This past week has been a lot of fun, I had two extra kids at my house (my sister grandkids) who are the same age of my two youngest kids. Two great kids. So I really tried to make that week memorable for them and my kids. As a kid I remember summer was my best part of the year, even greater than Christmas. My summer memories are innumerable.
