Our Etsy shop is officially open today!!!

I had been wanting to open an Etsy store FOREVER. But I have a kind of chronic sickness of pre-preparing the preparation to accomplish something. In other words, I am very slow person. You could say Im a little bit of a tomorrow (mañana) girl. Or I was, that is until I met this lovely young girl full of energy, very creative and with a beautiful heart. We joined forces and our passion for creativity until the day came when we opened shop! Her name is Pilar, she is a 26 year old beautiful inside and out Mexican-American. She went to school in Austin TX for Graphic Design and Fine Arts. A couple of months ago she wrote a post in my blog and was going to write every month but never did. Now we co-own the the easy shop and she will be collaborating twice a week on this blog.
The whole process of opening etsy was not simple. Partly because it involves a lot of work and partly because the partnership. It gave me the chance to get to know more of Pil. From personal experience I can tell you, it´s not easy having a business partner, is a small or large business. Partnership get to be kind of like a marriage and in certain moments it get to be overwhelming. Over all it has been a joyful ride. The more I get to know PiI, I also get to know myself, and with that grow, not just on a business level but also a personal one. And finally what a pleasure to finish a project: Dulce Dia Creations at Etsy. And with that said, begin another ride with Pil still on board. Sales……. and there is always those inevitable questions: I wonder if anything will actually sell. Will the buyer get it? will they love it? And i guess only time will tell. So from tomorrow on we will for sure continue to come up with new creations… as well as promote our new store even though, I must be honest, sales, social media, advertising, promotions etc are not exactly my cup of tea.
Sweet Friday: Candy Buffet Decorations
Hi everyone! Today we would like to share with you some of the sweet details we’ve recently made. One of our favorite creations are the dulce de leche filled wafer circles which we’ve decorated with edible ink stamps. We also enjoyed making gummy skewers and the personalizing them with banners. Here in Mexico he ware big fans of chile candies, which are usually made out of a sort of paste that gives us a lot of room to play with. We created flower buds by making the into little balls wrapped in cellophane and attached to a wooden stick. Also, one of the tamarind chile paste comes in little buckets which we transformed into flower pots! And lastly we have some decorated cupcakes with hand punched shells and butterflies. You can get creative with these by painting them or attaching them on to tooth picks.
Have a sweet weekend !

Merry Monday / Candy Buffet
Lately I been mising a lot of post as I´ve been working on a project with a dear young woman which I truly admire and has become an amazing friend. There is a post in Design Sponge that asks what you like the most about your home. And I always thought, if I had to answer, I would say my family ofcourse, and shortly after I would have to say being hostess. While hosting a breakfast for her sister, Pili and I met, and that is how our relationship started . I love hosting and I love to decorate for any ocacion. For me breakfast lunch or dinner with or without guests, is an oportunity to decorate. But this time I decidede to embark myself on a journey of creation with my dear friend Pili. Those small details that make the whole diference in each event. We started out just haning out and finding out we had so many likes in commun, then we went on to brainstorm over numerous projects, and finally the ideas began to take shape. We came out with a collection of seating charts, photobooth & props, backdrops, cake toppers, food picks, cake tiers, garlands, favors, ring pillows, his and hers signs, and candy bars! Here below is one of our first projects, we hope you guys enjoy it and many more coming to you every merry monday.
